The Good Life
“The Good Life to me is this: a life rich in faith, family, friends, and creativity, It is a life full of richness that God has to offer; a life spent building treasures in heaven rather than here on earth. I t is not a life of laziness and greed, but one of discipline, hard work, ad self-reflection. It may not always be easy or comfortable, but it is always full in abundance and Completely secure in Christ.” Ruth Soukup Living Well, Spending Less
Today began a New Year, New You habit for me. I had a time several years ago where I was in a challenge to wake up early and to spend time in God’s Word, planning my day and then exercising. I was committed. I had accountability and I was determined. I did it for two different events. I had accountability and a purpose. Well, after the studies ended and the accountability dwindled, so did my motivation and determination to wake up early. Let’s face it, I am NOT a morning person! However, I am tired of being tired at the end of the day and feeling like I wasted my day. Yes, I am a busy mom. I pretty much start and end the day doing something. I do find down time in the evening, but I am always dissatisfied with my results of the day. Something needed to change!
So, I decided to do just that, make a change, and what better time to do this, than the start of a New Year? I don’t want this to be a New Year’s resolution, but an actual change in how my daily life plays out. I have become stagnant in my life. I listen to podcasts and say I want to improve, but never take the steps toward changing. I am the heaviest I have been, other than when I was pregnant with my children, and I am tired of it. After some consideration, I will do what I need to do to make a difference and change my habits to improve who I am inside and out. I believe the way I live my life, and how I choose to live each day, will play a huge factor in the results I see in me.
I am going to start blogging about my mornings, my goals, and my search to seek Christ in changing my habits to be more focused and centered on Him. I hope you will enjoy my journey and are able to identify and learn along with me.
The quote I started the blog post with is from a book I just began to read. Yep, reading is another goal of mine this New Year, New You. Though, I don’t see trouble with my need for things, I do want to learn to Live Well and Spend Less, especially now, as we wait on Matt to be offered a job. I will be talking about meals we plan on the Rice and Beans, Beans and Rice way of life Dave Ramsey speaks of.
Since this is my first day writing in the morning, I realized I need to stop the post and move on with packing lunches and helping my kiddos get out the door.
Have a wonderful day!!
